Recipe – Easy DIY All Natural, Non Toxic Citrus Household Cleaner

If you think you need chemicals to clean your house, think again! I’m going to teach you how to make your own all-natural and non-toxic household DIY cleaner easily.

This all-natural, all-purpose citrus cleaning spray has only two ingredients!
a clear glass spray bottle sitting on a windowsill. the DIY Cleaner bottle has orange liquid with little floaters in it. outside of the window is an old brick apartment building.

Make this spray and ditch the toxins found in conventional, store-bought cleaners.

What’s Wrong With Conventional Cleaners?

You may be used to using conventional (traditional) cleaners in your home. Even if you no longer use them, you’re more than likely familiar with them.

Many conventional cleaners contain chemicals that are terrible for your hormones, sinuses, skin, and overall health. Any chemical that touches your skin goes directly into your system! Your skin is your largest organ!

Some of the chemicals to avoid are:

  • Parabens
  • Phalates
  • Biphesonal-A. (BPA)
  • Parfum or Fragrance
  • 1,4-Dioxane
  • Chlorinated Bleaches
  • Triclosan

Some of these chemicals have been classified as carcinogenic (cancer-causing) in humans. That’s frightening! Almost all of the chemicals listed are considered endocrine disruptors, meaning they affect our hormones and endocrine system.

Sustainability

My DIY cleaner is not only all-natural and non-toxic, but it’s sustainable, too. Unless you compost (I don’t, currently), the citrus peels in this recipe would end up in the trash.

How To Make Your DIY Cleaner Spray

One of the best things about this DIY cleaner is that it requires only two ingredients: citrus peels and vinegar.

  • Save up orange, clementine, or any other citrus peels ya have!
  • Add the peels to a glass jar.
  • Fill the jar with white vinegar
  • Let the mixture rest for 3-4 weeks
  • Strain the mixture into a spray bottle
  • Clean away, toxin-free!
