If you experience an afternoon crash, I have a solution for you! The afternoon crashes you experience are usually caused by caffeine levels decreasing and unstable blood sugar levels.
Many of us, myself included, drink coffee on an empty stomach – first thing in the morning. I did the same for yearssssss. The crashes I experienced had me yawning before noon and firing up the coffee maker again.
When we drink coffee without a buffer in our stomachs, our blood sugar levels go awry. By waiting until breakfast to drink a cup o’ joe, you’ll notice that, over time, your afternoon crash will disappear! You might also notice your caffeine dependence and metabolism improve, too!
This is something that you could, and should, add to your morning routine whether you’re home or away. On my most recent trip to Ireland, I made sure to hold off on my beloved coffee until I had some brekkie.
Try drinking water, warm lemon water, or room temp lemon water in the morning if you need something to drink before breakfast. The change will be tough, but I believe in you!!
PS – this is relevant for women AND men! However, women will also experience hormonal benefits to stabled blood sugar levels.
